My name is Alexandra Ashida. I am a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist.

My background is in Occupational Therapy and I worked for many years in the NHS in a variety of health specialties. I have a special interest in the psychological impact of physical injury as well as chronic pain conditions.

I found hypnotherapy by accident. I have always liked horses, but a few years ago I had a couple of falls that seemed to have a big effect on me.

In the space of six months I had totally lost my confidence. I couldn’t believe how awful and anxious I felt doing something that I had always loved. The ‘grit your teeth and get on with it’ approach seemed to be making things worse, so I started looking for alternatives.

After some research I found Solution Focused Hypnotherapy.

My anxiety around horses was completely fixed, amazingly easily, and I found a therapy technique that absolutely made sense to me, professionally as well as personally.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has benefited my life, my health, my work and relationships in so many ways, and can help you too. 

What is solution focused hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is first, and foremost, evidence-based. It uses the most up-to-date neuroscientific research in every area of its application.

The ‘Solution Focused’ part refers to a therapy that allows people to overcome difficulties and vastly improve their quality of life without dwelling on problems of the past. A Solution Focused Therapist will ask you to think about what life would feel like if you didn’t feel rubbish? What would be different? And what do you need to do to feel better? In this way, we can help our clients to facilitate lasting change, often remarkably quickly.

The ‘hypnotherapy’ bit is actually very ordinary. We all use trance every day. It’s easy to achieve and is an amazingly relaxing and reviving experience (and has absolutely nothing to do with walking around like a chicken!). 

What is solution focused hypnotherapy?

How many appointments do I need?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is designed to be a brief therapy, so you might be surprised just how quickly you see a difference. Length of therapy is entirely led by your individual progress, but to give you an idea:

Simple phobias: Four sessions

Smoking Cessation: One single appointment, lasting up to an hour

Anxiety, Depression: Around eight to twelve sessions.

What to expect.

I always offer an absolutely no fee, no obligation first appointment. This means you can tell me about yourself, and what you’d like to achieve, and I can explain how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help.

If you decide at that point that hypnotherapy is not for you, that is, of course, absolutely fine. If you decide are ready to make a change, and book further appointments, even better! I’ll provide you with some simple exercises and a relaxation download to listen to at home to get the ball rolling straight away.

Your following sessions will follow a similar pattern each time of talking therapy and trance work until you feel that you have reached a point where my input is no longer required. My aim is for you to become your own mental health expert. I just provide the tool kit.
